Dr. Daniele Piras

Research engineer

In the NOMI program Dr. Daniele Piras is a research engineer, contributing to the development of Subsurface Ultrasound Atomic Force Microscopy.

Dr. Daniele Piras received the Ph.D. degree in mechanical and thermal measurements from the University of Padua, (Padua, IT), in 2009, working on breast cancer detection with Ultrasound imaging. He has been a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Biomedical Photonic Imaging Group at the University of Twente (Enschede, NL), and later on moved to TNO, first in the Process and Instrumentation Development group and later in the Optomechatronics group. His research interests include finite element modelling, photoacoustic imaging, ultrasound imaging, both applicable to medical and industrial application.
